From November 8-10, renowned soprano, teacher, director, and gesture and vocal coach Ellen Hargis will be in the New York Metropolitan area.  She will be available to give private lessons, will give the lecture/demonstration described below, and on Tuesday, November 10, Ms. Hargis will conduct a d'India masterclass with members of the New York Continuo Collective.

Soprano Ellen Hargis presents a fascinating look at the training and preparation 17th and 18th century actors underwent to hone their craft.



A slide presentation, including samples of a performer's sources, will show diagrams for commedia actors, gesture manuals, and art works for imitation, accompanied by readings from treatises and manuals for actors, singers, and orators on the subjects of acting technique and stagecraft.
